I have been seeing the ads for Hungryroot for a while and finally took the plunge and signed up! The concept is that you get quick meals and healthy snacks, all in one place. They can auto-suggest recipes and groceries for you based on your plan, or you can custom-pick the entire box.
For my first box, I chose to get just one recipe: Black ‘n Blue Cheese Salad.
The bad news is the avocado was not edible (I swapped in their Rainbow Veggie Mix in its place), but the salad had generous portions for two, and all the other ingredients were fresh. Customer service came through with a credit for the spoiled avocado to use towards my next order.
For groceries, since I already get Gobble and Butcher Box for dinner, I focused on breakfast, lunch, and snacks. So far, I am a big fan of the Les Trois petits cochons Sous-Vide egg bites. They take only 45 seconds and are similar to what you get at Starbucks!
And I can not resist bagels in the morning, and these Silver Hills Bakery Organic Everything Bagels are made from sprouted and organic whole wheat flour. I will keep them in the freezer for when carb cravings strike.
A few more items I got were hummus, fruit salad, vegetable stir fry mix, a smoothie, mushroom ravioli, and another standout item…Organic Dark Chocolate Banana Bites!
My next delivery comes tomorrow and this time I chose two recipes: Spicy Fajita Chicken Chopped Salad and Chicken + Spinach Rigatoni Alfredo. I am also trying their Overnight Oats, Blueberry Almond Superfood Cereal, Apple Spice Breakfast Square, Three Bean Veggie Chili, and a few other items!
