Did you know National Vodka Day was October 4th? In celebration, I was contacted about two products to keep top of mind this month (for fall and the upcoming holiday season) and sent a new-to-me flavor of vodka – Sangria (yum!)!
The two brands I was introduced to are:
“UV Vodka – Made in the USA, UV Vodka offers over 20 fun, colorful flavored vodkas. Made with all natural flavors and distilled four times to ensure great taste, UV Vodka is perfect for adding to your cocktails.” and “Prairie Organic Spirits – Made with respect from seed to glass, Prairie Organic Spirits is the #1 organic spirit*, offering 100% certified organic vodka, made from a single-sourced, organic corn grown on a handful family-owned and operated Minnesota farms. Each bottle of Prairie Organic Spirits takes three years of meticulous work and provides a cocktail experience that we can all celebrate!”
First of all, I did not realize UV Vodka had so many unique and fun vodkas to try (Cake, Cherry, Coconut, Grape, Pink Lemonade…the list goes on!) Usually I just do your typical plain or flavored vodka (raspberry or blueberry) with soda water, lime and a splash of cranberry juice when I am out and about, so seeing all their unique vodka options was exciting. Then as for the brand Prairie, organic vodka is certainly something that is catching up on the spirits scene, just like organic ANYTHING is big right now.
I was even more thrilled to get some new recipes to share with you and give a try this fall – see below! Just in time for the weekend 😉
1. Prairie Hard Cider
1 ½ oz. Prairie Organic Vodka
¼ oz. maple syrup
½ oz. cranberry juice
¾ oz. spiced apple cider
2.Prairie’s Pumpkin Pie
1 ½ oz. Prairie Organic Vodka
1 ½ oz. Irish cream liqueur
1 ½ oz. pumpkin flavored liqueur
1 pinch cinnamon and nutmeg
UV Salty Caramel Apple
Cranberry Juice
4.Sangria Punch (photo above!)
1 part UV Sangria
3 parts lemon-lime soda
Serve in a glass with ice & sliced fruit, or add ingredients to a pitcher or punch bowl.
5.Prairie Organic Nutty Russian
¾ oz. Prairie Organic Vodka
¾ oz. Nocino
¾ oz. coffee liqueur
Splash of soda water
Cinnamon whipped cream
Top with soda water and finish with cinnamon whipped cream.
Have you tried either brand of vodka yet?
Cheers!

Some crazy vodka out there…
Isn’t Sangria wine? If so, how can you make vodka from wine? It seems a bit contradictory sort of like pumpkin pie cake.
UV, do you think they call it that because it’s made by using UV rays from the sun to burn in the flavors?
Prarie sounds cool….organic this and organic that as long as it gets me organically drunk and makes me free as a bird so that a new organic orgasm can take place with less stress.

i looked up what the name means and this is what it says ha “What does the UV in UV Vodka stand for? We chose the name because it implies brightness, which is only fitting for a vodka as colorful and flavorful as ours.”

Egen you “Anything organic is big” is kinda of funny….imagine if a guy said is thing was organic; I’d immediately think it was big and would ask to see it and then let’s see where it goes from there.
But I must admit to a weakness for a big one, whether it’s organic or not doesn’t bother me.
Michelle says
I meant organic foods are very popular right now since people want a healthier more “clean” diet these days
Lan Nyugen says
Thanks for the research into UV.
Louise and you are right….organic is the new buzzword in food..and now organic booze.
I heard that most organic olive oil is a scam and that the mafia controls the olive oil biz and they put all kinds of stuff in olive oil and then pass it on as organic.
When you went to Italy were they talking about the mafia and their shenanigans with olive oil?
Michelle says
No never heard anything about olive oil and mafia ha

Sad news: one of your favorite places, The Frosty Bar, has closed.
I knew you liked it there so this must be terrible news for you and your little sister who also liked it.
I’m wondering what they did with all the coats, scarves and hats they loaned to guests? Think they had a sale? Or maybe the creditors and vendors who got stiffed by the Frosty Bar got them as payment.
Anyway thought you’d like to know. You still go Sterlings?
They look they’re on life support and ready to close soon.
Michelle says
nothing seems to last lately – my favorite bar – used to be called houstons then hillstone – closed too !
Cat Con says
I was around Faneuil Hall doing the Halloween thing [I was a cop in short shorts with handcuffs] and knocked on window of The Frosty Bar thinking of someone was there they’d give me a coat.
Out of luck..nobody answered. But not out of luck finding some drunk boy who let me handcuff him
Cat Con says
Out and about….did you drink vodka and soda with a splash of cranberry and a lime wedge at The Frosty Bar?
Bet you and your little sister fired down shots of vodka straight from the freezer like they do in Moscow, the home of the first Frosty Bar if I’m not mistaken….or maybe it was Helsinki or Montreal; anyway, au revoir Frosty Bar in Faneuil Hall. We hardly knew ya’

Am I missing something: Did you and your hubby call it splitsville?
Under your name or says “bride to be.” What’s happened? It’s sad to see two young people grow apart after surgery have a brief time together.
Anyway, I wish you two the best; but I’m happy to see that YOU are tying the knot again. Keep us informed.
Hope it was mutual and no fe8ngs were crushed in the split.
Michelle says
Oops bride to be is my old “about me” i have been married a year .
Cat Con says
Sorry for the typos….but it’s auto correct fault…
I.know it’s not surgery have, and should be such a brief time…
Anyway, sorry to hear.
But like I said, glad to see you’re a bride to be so fast after the split.
Am I right in guessing, you were the adulterer?
Michelle says
We have been together 7 years – thanks for the reminder that i need to change my about me blurb on the blog 😉

I thought you lived near Boston, Revere, I think.
But I see you moved to Houston.
Get a new job or just wanted to do the Texas thing?
Do you like it? Heard it was a big place.
Sorry that as soon as you moved there that your favorite bar, Hillstone, closed.
Michelle says
I do live near Boston ! Nope not Houston !
I am so sad Hillstone closed ! I loved getting a beer and a burger there !
