If you have been around here for a bit, you know summer for the husband and I is spent in the garden! He is not much of a beach person but gardening is one thing we do together to get outside and harvest our own veggies, fruits, herbs, and flowers to share with the whole family. The garden is located in Sal (the husbands) yard (a few miles away from Boston) and it is filled to the brim with healthy treats (see past garden posts here).
We love to try new things each year and see what works and what doesn’t. This is only a glimpse of what is going on back there but a quick rundown of what we have includes: carrots, onions, chives, parsley, peppers, green beans, snap peas, eggplant, flowers, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, corn, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, carrots, zucchini, squash, basil, lettuce, radishes, lemons, and spinach. Here are some pics I took of the garden throughout the summer!

Omg
That garden is amazing.
Who has time for the beach when you’re growing, planting and picking.
Plus I bet Sal has a wandering eye at the beach and can’t keep them off the hotties strutting like the little ho ho’s that they are.
Do you pick all your crops or do hire illegal immigrants from Revere to pick them?
Michelle says
HAHA Sal just isnt the type of guy to just lay on the beach and roast on a blanket in the sun – more of an active type !
Oh boy – no immigrants here – just sal and i and his dad .

Quite a summer I see with all the happy and hot bridesmaids having fun drinking champagne, sangria and martinis at Dancing Bear clubs.
I think I may be right in figuring out that one of your sisters is still single and on the market. If that’s the case, my brother, Ricky, is available.
He’s 39 and only been married once. And she was a real see you next Tuesday if you catch my drift.
Anyway, he’s successful in so many ways.
He started as a bus boy at Applebee’s and is now a cook.
He successfully kicked his opiate addiction and is now sober and clean.
After years wasting money and time at Mohegan Sun he made retribution to our parents for all the money he weaseled from them.
He’s a new man and now he’s looking for a new woman to share the rest of his life with.
Contact me asap because my family is desperate to see him settle down and make babies. Plus he eats like a horse and the only thing he contributes is nachos and some Mac and cheese that Applebee’s let’s him bring home.
Michelle says
Noooo one sister got married 5 years ago and one gets married in October ! So no sisters to set up with your bro ! he should do one of the apps – bumble or tinder – ha he will have a date in no time !
Lortissima Dorsi says
He did that tinder swiping thing. The ladies who responded were oh so trashy. To call them ladies is an insult to ladies.
What tramps!!!! All they wanted to do was snort drugs, drink and have sex.
It almost sent Ricky back to rehab. He needs a solid girl not some cheap floozie who just wants to bone.
Michelle says
HAHA yikes terrible idea – you are right !
Yuri says
Do you have a day when people can come in and pick produce and then pay so much a pound depending on how much they pick?
If you do, post it as I’d like to get some eggplant.
Michelle says
Ha if only the garden was that big – sorry Yuri – it is just a home garden where we share the produce with family and eat and it ourselves π
Ted Jamenson says
Wow…where is your farmstead?
Do you have one of those honor system farm stands where people take the veggies and leave money in the bucket?
They have lots of them in the Berkshires and it seems to work. Goes to show that most people are honest. You agree?
How do you grow lemons here? I always thought they grow in warm places. Speaking of warm places, did Sal’s fame in Italy make it ok through the earthquake? Sure hope so.
Pictures were sad.
Michelle says
All family members in Italy are safe, thank you for asking !! We are going next Friday – eek ! We will be traveling around Rome, Florence, and Umbria areas I believe.
Nope not a public farm at all – the garden is just a good old backyard garden a few miles from Boston – we have two lemon trees growing in pots ! You just keep them outdoors in summer and move them indoors the rest of the year.
