The Good Life
It’s my first friday favorites, as a married lady! Since we just got back from our honeymoon, I am going to focus this post on the Aruba trip.
1. Favorite in food – Aruba edition –
There were two meals that really stuck out during our honeymoon in Aruba. One was steak dinner at El Gaucho, which is an Argentinian steakhouse, recommended and paid for as a wedding gift from my BIL/SIL.
The other was at Hopi Bon Grill. Rewind to last Thursday when we went deep sea fishing as a honeymoon excursion. I was really sea sick so I admit I didn’t get too involved with the fishing, but Sal caught three nice sized Mahi Mahi, which were brought over to the restaurant by our captain, to prepare for us by their chef for lunch!
They prepared it two ways: with teriyaki sauce and sweet + sour sauce, and then served it with plantains, mushrooms and peapods, and rice. It doesn’t get any fresher then that! Two hours after the fish was caught, a lunch feast for us!
2. Favorite in drinks –
Our honeymoon package was all inclusive and we couldn’t get enough of the mojitos at the hotel!
3. Favorite photo –
Our hotel room at the Riu had stunning views. Every night we caught the sunset from our balcony and I love this picture I took with my phone that captures the beauty of the hotel pool and beach too.
4. Favorite honeymoon outing –
Definitely out of my comfort zone was an excursion where we did an ATV tour around the island. Sal was the driver and we got to stop at the beach, an old gold mine, a lighthouse, and a historical church while soaking up the sun, sand, and navigating around Aruba. It was so fun and I got plenty of pics.
5. Favorite part of the honeymoon –
Relaxing at the pool and beach with my new husband, and finally lounging around after 6 months of constant wedding planning was the best part of the vaca!
TGIF! What about you – what are this weeks favorites? Have you been to Aruba?

OMG! !!! Fab to the max that you’re narried. You look so freaking happy and that honeymoon made me jealous.
I’d pound mojitos all day of they were included. Did you have a little buzz when you were driving in that wild desert?
Speaking of which, you two looked like bank robbers with those wild bandanas.
Did you buy matching ones as kind of a honeymoon thing? Like his and hers bank robber looking flame filled crazy bandanas?
I hope you bought them and certainly hope the ATV company doesn’t just hand them out to all their customers and then reuse them. That would be yukky and oh so gross.
I remember once when you and your twin sister went to the Frosty Igloo Ice Bar and you both wore community coats. That gave me the chills – no pun intended – because of the potential for filthy germs and flu germs.
Wearing a bandana thst someone else wore in all that heat is like swimming in a stagnant petri dish of bacteria.
Anyway, great pix, cool hotel, but weird that Argentinians bring cows to Aruba. I don’t know how cows could live there as it is all desert and there’s not enough grass for them to live a nirmal cow life.
Were the steaks thin or do you think the farmers force feed them grain so the cattle get big?
Michelle says
They were giving out the bandanas at the atv tour and you got to keep it. You needed it because sand was literally flying at your face!

Yummy yum yum to that wicked fresh fish.
Too bad you were a bit sea sick….think unlimited free Mojitos may have been just a wee bit at fault? Hahahaha
Did you get to look for gold at the gold mine?
That would have been fun!
What a nice hotel. Happy you had a blast…and hope the casino didn’t do too much damage.
Bet you got a great tan!!!
Michelle says
Thanks ! Yes such a blast ! No gold at the gold mine – just a historic site to stop at!

I luv luv luv luv freakin Aruba. That Gaucho is so on fleek. Yummy yummy in my tummy steaks.
Did you eat a big steak with mounds of french fries, I luv it there. Sunny, good drinks, hot guys, free drinks in the casino and cool guidos from New Jersey. Too bad you’re married, it’s so easy to hook up with a hot, tanned muscle hunk from Jersey or Queens.
Give me a shout out if you ever need a break from the old man and want to go on the prowl in Aruba..
Hahaha I’ll even wear my string bikini if we go. I’m already all hot and bothered just thinking about it.

Aruba is the best for everyone – families, honeymooners, singles…the motto is “one happy island” and it really is ha. I got steak and my sides were mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and broccoli.
