It was a short work week to celebrate Patriot’s Day and the Boston Marathon (week of April 16th). The weather was almost 90 degrees and the runners (Yay Shannon!) braved the heat Monday to cross the finish line, while thousands of spectators cheered them on in Boston and beyond.
I went to Rattlesnake before meeting up with friends near the finish line. Then hit up Lir for celebratory drinks. It was a great day. Drama free and filled with lots of drinks and fun.
I got in a few work outs, snuck in a tiny bit of cooking (bbq chicken quesadillas for last nights dinner = huge success) and finally made peace with the fact that I will be paying double rent in May. Oh wait. Did I tell you that yet? Yup. It’s true. I wasn’t able to get any interested tenants for May BUT I was able to secure two ladies for June! So yes it stinks but in the scheme of things, the lease is broken, and my new apartment awaits! I will just move out slowly and before I know it, I will be ridin’ solo, solo!
Speaking of living alone, I found this article on Elle to be kind of eye opening – Can Singles Live Happily Ever After? I am not single in the sense that I do have a bf, but it kind of made me think about the not so fun parts of residing on my own.
But on a positive note, I can cook at any time of day, for who ever I want, without thinking about a roomie. I can cook in my birthday suit if I want to. And not do the dishes right away. Oh, and I don’t have to hand wash my dishes anymore! Because I finally will have a dishwasher.
Anyways, Laurens Latest posted a Warm Kale & Artichoke Dip that really sounds up my alley! I am quite the snacker.
In spring and summer, I crave lots of fresh fruit. Especially strawberries for a buck at Haymarket. I also like to take a trip to a farm to pick some myself. So I was pumped thinking about whats to come when I read A Farm Girls Dabbles Strawberry Rhubarb Crumb Bars recipe.
Fav Family Recipes posted about Butterfinger Cheesecake Bites that are my diets worst nightmare but make me kind of giddy to think about.
And I am intrigued by Kalyns Kitchen Tuna Pasta Salad Recipe with Lemon, Green Olives, and Cucumbers instead of the usual pasta salad I make with onions and celery and mayo, plus tuna and pasta.
Who doesn’t love a good burger? Tasted Menu featured a list of Boston’s Best Burgers if you need some burger-centric inspiration.
Now to toot my own horn. I am feeling LOTS of love this week! Sal (the bf) and I wrote a recipe and cooked up a storm recently. We took tons of great pics and broke down directions on how to make an easy pasta dish that we eat all the time at my place. We have grilled chicken and salad with it and it is so easy and really good. I was a guest blogger on Rantings of an Amateur Chef where the article Examine This Pasta Pomodoro was published the other day. They like me. They really, really like me! So far it has 85 likes! And over 30 comments! I can’t wait to feel the love over here on my blog. Right now I get lots of views BUT people are a little shy on the comments. Soon enough my time will come! (hint, hint – that means you!! I want to know what you are thinkin of what I am sharing).
Boston Chefs posted about an upcoming event. The Chefs Collaborate for Earth Day. Eat out for a good cause. Just do it.
New hotel alert! The Revere Hotel Boston Common is now open. It will feature a lounge (opening soon), the Emerald. Check out the deets from Boston Grub Street.
On Examiner the other day, did you see my Chef Rocco DiSpirito’s Recipe for Vanilla-Ricotta Stuffed Crepes? Kind of a good idea for Mother’s Day. Or in my case, because my momma is far away, a treat for me!
Last but not least, rum lovers will enjoy my round up of Boston’s Best Bars With Great Rum Selections on CBS this week.
Have a good weekend!
