How do you get delicious cookies, with a tiny unique twist, in 15 minutes? Start with a bag of Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix. As directed, add to the mix one egg, 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and 1 tablespoon of water in a bowl.
Once the dough is mixed, it’s time to make cookies! I made larger cookies by dividing the mix into 12 cookie balls, With this pouch, you can make a few dozen small cookies though depending on what you prefer! I popped in a whole unwrapped Werther’s Original Caramel into the center of each ball and put them in the preheated oven to bake. I checked on them to make sure all was going well and everything was a- ok, as they started to flatten out and the carmels began to melt within minutes.
Fifteen minutes later, I had soft caramel centers and huge, lightly browned peanut butter cookies. I put a quick sprinkle of sea salt on the center of each of the gooey caramel centers! And voila! Done!
They then need to cool down before packing them up to bring to my cookie swap tomorrow (or whatever YOU will be doing with them). But I did taste test them and they are so, so, sooooo good warm out of the oven (as are most cookies)! They might look a bit better if they are divided into smaller cookies I realize. This way they could bake for a bit less and the caramels would stay more intact but all and all I am thinking these are keepers!
