Newcastle Brown Ale has created a new beer, Founders’ Ale, as part of their Limited Edition line. It’s available from February until April, in Boston and nationwide. Look out for it at local bars or purchase it in 6 and 12 packs of bottles.
Featuring an amber/light brown hue, it goes down very easy. Though it is a full bodied beer, it feels light and dry in your mouth, with a hoppy, mild, yet flavorful taste. When I poured it into a glass, I found this bitter beer retained its head nicely.
It joins their other specialty beers in their Limited Edition series, available only during certain time periods of the year, which are Summer Ale, Werewolf and Winter IPA. The beer is brewed with premium malts and Styrian Goldings hops and contains 4.8 % of alcohol. It’s said to be a special tribute to the five founding breweries that make up Newcastle.
“The iconic five-point star on our label recognizes the five founding breweries of Newcastle, and this beer further celebrates the legend of our original, hard-working Geordie brewers and patrons,” said Charles van Es, brand director Newcastle Brown Ale. “With Founders’ Ale we are answering consumer demand by offering all of Newcastle’s Limited Editions nationally in 2012, giving everyone a chance to enjoy a bit of authentic English history.”
