When I saw one of my favorite low-cal drink mixes, Crystal Light, had a new line of flavors, Mocktails, I had to snag a sample. They offered them on their Facebook page and I was very excited when it arrived. They come in Margarita, Mojito, Pomtini, Peach Bellini, and the one I tried was Appletini.
Featuring only 5 calories in a cup, it is a great way to jazz up plain water and get your daily 6 to 8 glasses in. As you know, I really liked the Lipton packets and I am all about making my own teas and drinks at my desk, as I mentioned in my 10 tips for losing 10 pounds, so this is another product that caught my interest. And these new flavors are right up my alley since they are different than any other drink mix.
When I saw the Facebook page offering up samples, I thought it would just be for one cup. But instead, it was for a 2-quart pitcher! And you also get a coupon to purchase a package for yourself. I have my handy-dandy pitcher that has a built-in mixer and happily made up a batch.
Although the color is really bright, neon green, I found the taste is a lot more subtle.
I would basically compare it to having a green apple jolly rancher. It does taste like a toned down, alcoholic free, apple martini too. Of course, my immediate response was how good it would be mixed with apple vodka.
But this is a great change from the usual lemonade and ice tea flavored drink mixes for non-alcoholic beverages.
