I think you are probably sick of hearing about my move by now? But just to be clear, no, I did not unpack yet. And yes there are still items left at the old apartment which need to be removed this weekend. I am the worst! I have had the entire month of May to move and it is coming down to the absolute last second to finish up. I work best under pressure I guess.
But it feels good to be staying at the new apartment and to be roommate free. I have cooked my first meal here, which was delic by the way (goat cheese and spinach with wheat pasta and chicken) and also enjoyed take out with the bf and some TV time and even did a ton of writing, so I haven’t totally been unproductive this week. I am just trying to get used to where things are or where they should be once I stop procrastinating and unpack fully. Let’s just hope I get my act together, for my own sanity, and get things organized around here this weekend.
Anyways, lots of food and drink related recipes and articles for summer’s kick off, leading up to Memorial Day! Check out my favorite links from this week (5/21st):
What’s more refreshing then an ice cold hard cider? I want to try the Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Cider made by the Boston Brewing Company, makers of Samuel Adams beer, after reading the article Angry Orchard, Terrific Hard Cider on The Nibble.
Ok, so here is the deal. I am very happy about my new apartment living solo in the city. But this recipe makes me wish I lived in the burbs, with a nice patio or deck, and a huge grill to make simple salads like this one from Martha Stewart for Grilled Steak and Summer Vegetable Salad.
And on that note, just in time for the long weekend ahead, and yet another reason why I wish I had a grill, is the article 24 Grilled Chicken Recipes For Your Memorial Day from Serious Eats.
Joy the Baker usually posts elaborate cakes, bread, cookies, and more, but what caught my eye this week was her Strawberry Ice recipe. So simple, yet so pretty to look at and I can imagine, a tasty addition to seltzer, lemonade, cocktails….the possibilities are endless this summer. Even in, you guessed it. Wine spritzers!
If you want flat abs this summer raise your hand? Mine is WAY up right now. I need to read (and actually do!!) this list of 26 Ways To Lose Stomach Fat Fast.
Not at all related to having flat abs (eh hem), this next recipe is as easy as pie. Chocolate pie that is! The Tasty Kitchen website included this recipe from Simply Scratch that seems like a sweet ending to a meal.
I absolutely love what she did on Carrots N Cake for her man’s b-day. I did something similar for my boyfriend’s 21st! I got 21 mini liquor bottles (aka nips) though instead of beers. If only I had personalized it a step further with 21 reasons I loved him. Maybe we would still be together now? NOT! Ha.
I live in dresses. Half my closet is dresses. I buy a new dress for just about every single event, so it is no wonder I am obsessed with every one of the Perfect 10: Flirty Frocks Stripes and Sequins featured.
I actually forced myself to take a proper lunch break the other day for once and checked out the Top Chef tour in Boston! So glad I did. I got some great pics, ate some tasty crabs, and it felt good to get away from the desk and have some time to myself to split up the work day. I need to do it more often this summer that is for sure.
Have a great holiday weekend!

Along the lines of the Angry Orchard (which i didn’t realize was made by Sam Adams?) – I found a new beer in Vegas that you’d love – Pyramid Apricot Ale – I’m officially on the hunt for it!

Hmmm, the light tea and lemonade sounds intriguing for a hot summer day after the 9th hole! (I never make it to 18)
