Spring is just around the corner, which makes it about time you hit the shops for a wardrobe refresh! However, we know you’re smarter than to spend a whole month’s paycheck on trendy items… That’s why we recommend buying inexpensive, yet very fashionable accessories to boost up your confidence this season. These are pieces that you’re still gonna wear come summer, and perhaps even next year, so they’re worth a try:
1. Statement necklace. You probably already own a statement necklace – who doesn’t?- but if you don’t, now would be a good time to get one! The trend is bound to stay, and spring is the best time to show it off. A colorful one will make your white shirts pop, while a plain one will look good on printed tops and bold colors. Which one is more your style? (Asos necklace, $37.64)
2. Red earrings. Earrings always have a nice effect, making your eyes pop and your face shine, but the most flattering ones are always red. Whether you pick subtle studs or statement chandeliers, red is the go-to color. The compliments will queue up. (Dorothy Perkins earrings, $8)
3. Cat eye sunglasses. Sunglass shapes come and go, but there’s one that always seems to return: cat eye. The stylish, retro inspired look is flattering and chic, making your eyes appear ascending. What’s not to like? (Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses, $62)
4. Clear bangle. We’ve seen a lot of clear plastic bangles lately, and we’re pretty sure they’re here to stay! The look is playful, but it can also be very classy, so we think the time has come to get your own. (Vince Camuto bracelet, $98)
5. Floral phone case. Florals are always in for spring, but that doesn’t mean you have to cover yourself in floral print from head to toe! A more subtle alternative is the floral phone case, which you can change every season (Topshop phone case, $16)
6. Case clutch. Clutches these days are no longer shapeless: they’re structured, and they protect your precious belongings better. More than that, a hard clutch is easier to carry than a flat one. (Debenhams clutch, $58)
7. Stacked rings. The way to wear rings this season? Stacked. Pick thin, delicate rings and stack them on your finger, mixing metals and styles however you wish. Or opt for a set, if you want a more coherent look. (Rebecca Minkoff rings, $58)
8. Pointy flats. Forget round toe ballerina flats! It’s all about pointy shoes this season, and we love that they make us look slightly taller! (Modcloth flats, $59.99 (sold out- instead check out Sole Society Flats, $59.95)
9. Silk scarf. A good scarf is a great investment for any season! If it’s cold, wear it around your neck, and if you need some sun protection, wear it on your head! It also makes a good accessory to tie around your handbag for a new look. (Mango scarf, $17)
10. Straw hat. The best way to cover your head in warm months is with a straw hat. Pick a style that suits you (fedora, floppy, bowler etc.) and find the straw version for this season. You’re gonna love wearing it over and over. (Leith hat, $28)
