Eat and Sip in the City

My eats from the holidays!

Here are some photos I have been meaning to share with you from Christmas time 2013! Better late then never right? First off, the new job had a holiday lunch at Davio’s in Boston and it was amazing! The first course was a classic Caesar salad!

Caesar SaladNext up: I went with the Pan Roasted Free-Range Chicken, Asparagus, and Tuscan Potatoes! Cooked. to. perfection.

ChickenAnd for dessert, this apple tart beauty!

Apple DessertAnother fun highlight of the holiday season was a party at my future bro/sister-in-law’s place! I actually didn’t take too many photos but there was everything under the sun from ham and macaroni and cheese to meatballs and ziti to chicken wings and spinach dip. But I did get a pic of the dessert spread!

Christmas Desserts TableAnd how creative is the hostess – she made this sign for the wine and drinks area!

Cocktail TableHighlights from Christmas Eve time!  The Feast of the Seven Fishes seafood extravaganza included lobster risotto, grilled octopus, fried calamari, baked shrimp, coconut shrimp, peel ‘n eat shrimp, octopus salad, cod, raw clams, and who even knows what else! Tons of food was consumed and plenty of wine.

Feast of the Seven FishesChristmas Day was my kind of meal! Pasta bolognese started the meal off…

BologneseAnd then prime rib dinner with green beans, salad, and potatoes.

Christmas DinnerThere were more desserts then people but I just love festive Christmas cookies and had a to get a quick pic!

Christmas cookiesThen the fiance and I ended the year on a tasty note! On New Year’s Eve we ate at Cafe Florentine in the North End. For her: Pollo al Limone- Roasted chicken breast rolled & stuffed with sausage, prosciutto & fontina cheese, finished in olive oil & lemon juice reduction sauce, served with mashed potatoes and string beans. For him: Filetto di Manzo al’ Balsamico- Grilled beef tenderloin wrapped with bacon, finished with shallots and shitake mushrooms, sautéed in olive oil, aged balsamic glaze and marsala wine, served with asparagus and creamy risotto. I must say, his was better!

And for the midnight toast at home, my sisters sent Shari’s berries chocolate strawberries for an engagement and New Year’s gift, and we had some champagne to go along with it!

Champagne and chocolatesBesides ridiculous amounts of good food, it is definitely a holiday season we will always remember!

Engaged at Christmas! What about you? Highlights from your holiday season?

Thanks for getting back and clearing up the confusion about your sister Shari from fla…
I noticed you called that Xmas eve extravaganza, feast of 7 fishes… I first wrote 9 fishes because when I read about all the fab food, I counted 9 different fishes you were served and ate…
So I’m a bit perplexed, you ate 9 fish at the 7 fish feast…

    Anyway, I’m probably wrong, I usually am…

I did notice you had two kinds of shrimp, but that still comes to 8 fish

My sisters are Karen and Nikki 🙂 Sharis is the chocolate covered strawberry company! Anyways it is called the feast of the seven fishes but at my fiances dinner they go well over the 7 🙂 Here is the origins of the dinner: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feast_of_the_Seven_Fishes
