Eat and Sip in the City

Food Photo Friday aka My Eats from the Week

Hey you guuuyyssss! I have lots to share for this week’s eats! You already know what went down on Meatless Monday, but I also went to a catered 30th b’day party last weekend, got yummy takeout with the bf another night, tried out a couple of new healthy frozen meals for quick lunches, and did some light cooking at home.

First up, let’s chat about the birthday party. It had a nice variety of Italian options set up buffet style, like stuffed mushrooms. antipasto salad, eggplant parm, chicken marsala, rigatoni with broccoli and chicken, and for dessert, check out this funky cake! I also had my fave drink combo: raspberry stoli vodka, soda water, splash of cran, with lots of ice and a lime. Dangerously delicious!

Another night, the bf and I got take out from a local restaurant in Malden, MA called Papa’s Bar & Grille. It seriously hit the spot. For 15 dollars you get bread, salad, baked potato, and two meats- I chose steak tips and ribs and the bf chose sausage and ribs. It was seriously so good and I was shocked he had never suggested we get it before until now.

For dessert one night, I used up the last couple of apples I had on hand for apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. I used an All Recipes version, which you can check out here.

I love a good sandwich. Under the cheese somewhere is a Morning Star Farms veggie burger! I piled on sprouts and tomatoes and put ketchup and mustard on the side. All on wheat toast.

I also had a tasty homemade egg salad sandwich on a toasted split wheat pita with sprouts and tomato and salt and pepper. So simple, yet so good.

On the way home from doing errands the other day, I hit up the North End Fish Market for some sushi. They had such nice options freshly laid out over ice but I kept it simple with the spicy tuna.

And I want to mention a couple of frozen meals I dug into. I tried out the Healthy Choice steamed Asian Potstickers and the Lean Cuisine wood fire style BBQ chicken pizza this week. I think the vegetarian postickers were great but I do not think I would rush to the get that pizza again!

I’ve been trying to cut dairy recently and put avocado or hummus in veggie burgers instead of cheese. Try it! I think it’s a much better alternative.
