Last week I shared the Shades of Grey Cocktail Recipe from Florida mixologist Nathan DeWitt. Now he has passed along some totally out there, but very intriguing, untraditional cocktails to consider for your Fourth of July festivities. Wow your guests with these over the top creations, which will go perfect with BBQ food.
Corny Son-of-a-Gun (pair with grilled corn on the cob)
1.5 oz Hudson New York Corn Whiskey
.5 oz Lemon Juice
.5 oz Corn Jelly
2 Dashes Bitter Truth Old Time Aromatic Bitters
Lemon Peel
Add ingredients to an iced shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into an iced Mason jar. Garnish with lemon peel.
Fatted Calf (pair with steak or hamburgers)
2 oz Russian Standard Vodka
.5 oz Beef Stock
3 Dashes Worcestershire Sauce
3 Dashes Tabasco
2 Blue Cheese-stuffed Olives
2 Cocktail Onions
Add vodka, stock, Worcestershire, and Tabasco to an iced shaker and stir for 30-40 seconds. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with olives and onions on a metal kabob skewer.
Col. Mustard in the Lounge with the Knife (pair with frankfurters)
1.5 oz Beefeater Gin
.75 oz Rothman Winter Orchard Cherry Liqueur
.25 oz Lemon Juice
.25 oz Fig Syrup
1/2 Barspoon of Dijon Mustard
Prosciutto/mustard crustini for garnish
Add gin, liqueur, juice, syrup, and mustard to an iced tin and shake vigorously. Strain into an iced highball and serve prosciutto and mustard crustini on the side.
