Move over pineapple coconut water because I recently gave Vita Coco Coconut Water with Tropical Fruit a chance! I had tasted three flavors and blogged about it in a previous post and it was time to move on to other flavors in their product line. This coconut water came in a cheery blue bright carton, with accents of pink, green, and orange on the bottle. It was a larger size then the other ones I had tried, at 17 fl oz, with a convenient cap to pop on and off if you can’t drink it all in one sitting.
It has 120 calories, no fat, and like their other coconut waters, only contains natural ingredients. It is made with coconut water, pink guava puree, orange puree, red dragon fruit puree, pineapple puree, vitamin c, and evaporated cane juice and similar to the other Vita Coco varieties is said to have more electrolytes then sports drinks and as much potassium as bananas. They have no cholesterol too and right on the container you can see that it is “like sticking a straw in a coconut” and you can “hydrate naturally with Rihanna.” I kind of did a double take on that part but apparently she is a spokesperson for the brand and said “It tastes so delicious and reminds me of home!”
Anyways, for some reason, after my first sip, I was thinking: I am not so sure about this. I think it was just because I am used to artificial fruit punch drinks (lame I know) that are bright red (which is probably artificial coloring) so when I poured it into a cup and saw the cloudy orange/brownish color, I was turned off. BUT I quickly realized it is quite a refreshing drink. I couldn’t get enough and before I knew it my glass was empty and at the last sip, I even licked my lips! It is much easier to gulp and a lighter consistency then the mango coconut water I recently tried, but for me, more exciting than the regular plain coconut water. I would love to know what your favorite kind of Vita Coco coconut water is!

The tropical fruit happens to be my least favorite vita coco option. I really like the straight-up coconut water with no additional juice – especially ice cold! I’ve been drinking it like it’s going out of style throughout my pregnancy to help me with my muscle cramps in my legs and to stay hydrated!
