Worthwhile reads from the web this week

Here are my worthwhile reads from the web from last week 11/12:

Even though turkey day is just a few days away, it is time to get on top of the holiday shopping/ gift buying for next month! Good Housekeeping posted a helpful Gifts for Every Budget list to help get the wheels turning. They also had an At-Home Workout: 30 Minutes to Slim post that proves you don’t need a pricey gym membership to stay fit!

Just as Daily Makeover said, BB creams are the biggest thing in beauty right now! Check out their article on The Best BB Creams for Your Skin.

Since I live solo, I don’t really make big dinners that I do love like casseroles or meatloaf. But what I can do is make Mini BBQ Cheddar Meatloaves from Iowa Girl Eats to have my favorites but in smaller portions!

I am heading down to Florida soon to see the fam and need to firm up! There will be no hiding behind sweater dresses down there in 75 degree weather. I want to sneak in more filling salads and less carbs. I especially like the Taco Salad recipe in the 10 Main Dish Salads on Lifescript.

I like how Joy the Baker changed the subject from her usual food-centric posts and addressed important issues about being prepared In Case Of Emergency.

Now let’s get down to business. Thanksgiving is this week! As if you weren’t already drooling over thoughts of getting stuffed to the brim with turkey and all the fixin’s. 48 Recipes for Thanksgiving and the Day After on Baked by Rachel has plenty of ideas for what to cook in the next few days.

A side dish that sounds good from Veggie Girl is her Spinach Mushroom Stuffing.

For another twist on the usual stuffing recipes around, this recipe on Martha Stewart for Bacon-Cornbread Stuffing sounds amazing.

I also would love to indulge on Buttermilk Bacon Blue Smashed Potatoes on howsweeteats.com.

New bar and restaurant alert for Boston! Abby Lane is open for biz across from the Wang in the Theater District, with former Hell’s Kitchen contestant/ Chef and Owner Jason Santos as Executive Chef.

Also Pret a Manger is open in the Financial District, offering sandwiches, soups, salad and more!

Hope everyone is having a good day!
